Yeah, I really should do more digital. Its funny to because pretty much the whole reason I did this one was because I spilled some tea on the traditional sketch thus making me decide to color it digital! X3 But I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out so I will probably be doing a bit more digital in the near future!
Yeah I was almost going for a cross between this version and this version of her also I decided not to give her the bib thingy and shoes, which does make her look quite a bit younger! Thats pretty cool that your doing a Luna drawing as well, I'll have to make sure keep an eye out for it! Also what kind of "unexpected look issues" are you having with it?
I guess the time period it can really go either way. It could take place right around the time before she snapped and was banished. But at the same time when I was drawing I was sort of thinking of it taking place more around the time she returned from the moon and was still trying to cope with the reality of being back after so long. Because when you think about it a lot can happen in a thousand years (like a whole lot) and her not being part of it then being thrown right back into the flow of things must be really emotionally draining, but at the same time she is happy to be back from banishment which is the reason for the "almost smile" she has, sort of a mixed feelings type thing, I donno! x)
I suppose you are correct. I should have realized as much after seeing and animation like Snowdrop. She would be coping with all sorts of new feelings upon her return from banishment. Regret over her actions, the loss of pretty much every pony she -had- loved and cared for due to the thousand years on the moon. The negative reactions she is still likely receiving around Equestria at this point so soon after her return; all that fear. Thank you for the additional perspective.
Yeah, its a wonder that Luna is even partially sane to begin with after spending a 1000 years alone! x) But I guess that's just part of what makes her such a great character! Oh and no problem, I love to talk about these kind of things!
